MEET THE INHABITANTS

What remains of their stories, anyway.

Every story leaves something behind.

Some came here running from something they were afraid to face.
Some followed a path they no longer remember.
Others have been here so long that no one remembers where their stories began.

Most have forgotten why they came.

Perhaps that is for the best.

NOT EVERY CREATURE CAME TO HAVEN WOODS THE SAME WAY.

Those Who Found The Woods

Those Who Belong to the Woods

Ogre - Dragon - Grumble - Pip - The Collector - The Rabbit - The Flying Monkey - Hansel & Gretel

The StoryTeller - Old Haven - The Sentinal The Warden - The Keeper of the Path

THose Who FOund The Woods

Not every story reaches the ending that was written for it.
Some characters wandered from their path.
Some were forgotten.
Some were abandoned.
And some ran from an ending they were not ready to face.

Eventually, they found their way here.
Haven Woods did not create them.
It gave them somewhere to go.

The Rabbit Who Lost His Way

THE RABBIT

Everyone knows you're supposed to follow the white rabbit.

Nobody ever tells you when to stop.

Once, the Rabbit knew every path through the Woods. If someone was lost, frightened, or trying to find their way home, following him was good advice.

Then the paths began to change.

He still  runs.

He still stops.

He still looks back to see if you're following.

The trouble is...

he no longer knows where he's going.

DO NOT FOLLOW THE RABBIT.

THE OGRE

The Gentle Giant Who Lost His Ending

The Ogre knew how stories about creatures like him were supposed to end.

Monsters were feared.

Heroes came.

And eventually, the monster was defeated.

The trouble was, the Ogre had never felt much like a monster.

So before his story could reach the ending he feared, he ran.

Now he wanders Haven Woods searching for the ending he believes he lost.

He no longer remembers the most important part:

He never stayed long enough to find out what it was.

NOT EVERY MONSTER IS THE VILLAIN.

GRUMBLE

Grumble the Troll
THE TROLL OF THE FORGOTTEN CROSSING

Once, Grumble had a very important job.

He guarded a bridge.

Everyone knew the rules.

Don't cross the bridge.

Don't wake the Troll.

And whatever you do… don't make him angry.

Grumble took his job very seriously.

He roared at travelers.

He threatened them.

He even collected bones because, as everyone knows, terrifying trolls collect bones.

There was only one problem.

Nobody thought Grumble was very terrifying.

Then, one day, the travelers stopped coming.

Fewer people told his tale. The path disappeared. Then the river. And eventually, even the bridge was gone.

Grumble was left guarding nothing.

So he went looking for travelers.

Somewhere along the way, he found Haven Woods.

He doesn't remember the bridge anymore. He doesn't remember the river. He doesn't even remember what he was waiting for.

But some things are harder to forget.

Guard the crossing.

Warn the travelers.

Collect intimidating things.

ROAR.

And Haven Woods has plenty of crossings.

I AM TERRIFYING!

He isn't.

THE DRAGON

The Dragon remembers one thing clearly.

Protect the egg.

Once, there was a kingdom. There was a hero. And there was something the Dragon believed was far more precious than treasure.

The egg.

He knew how stories about dragons were supposed to end. A hero would come. The dragon would be slain. And whatever he guarded would be taken.

So when the hero began making his way toward him, the Dragon did the only thing he believed he could do.

He ran.

He took the egg and fled before the hero could reach him. Eventually, he found Haven Woods.

As the years passed, the kingdom faded from his memory. Then the hero. Even what he once believed about the egg became difficult to remember.

But one instinct never disappeared:

Protect the egg.

The Dragon believes he knows what would have happened if he had stayed. There is only one problem. He never stayed long enough to find out.

THE HERO WAS COMING FOR THE EGG.

THE DRAGON NEVER STAYED LONG ENOUGH TO LEARN WHY.

HANSEL & GRETEL

THE CHILDREN WHO NEVER WENT HOME

Everyone knows the story.
Two children lost in the woods.
A trail of breadcrumbs.
A cottage too good to be true.
And a witch waiting inside.
At least...
that's the story everyone remembers.

Hansel and Gretel have been in Haven Woods for a very long time.
Unlike the other inhabitants, they can leave whenever they wish.
And they often do.
They wander beyond the Woods looking for children who have strayed a little too close to the path.
They're friendly.
They know a shortcut.
There's somewhere warm nearby.
Fresh food. Sweets. Games.
And you can stay as long as you like.
They never force anyone to follow them.
They simply smile and say:

Come with us. It's not far.

Eventually, Hansel and Gretel always return to Haven Woods.
Sometimes they return alone.
And sometimes...
they don't.

THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN LEAVE.
THEY ARE ALSO THE ONLY ONES WHO ALWAYS COME BACK.

Those Who Belond to The Woods

By now, you've met those who found their way into Haven Woods.

But not every creature came from another story.

Some were already here.

They belong to the Woods themselves.

They guard its paths, protect its pages, preserve its stories—and sometimes change them.

They are not simply inhabitants of Haven Woods

They were here before many of the Inhabitants arrived.

And Haven Woods would not be Haven Woods without them.

Digital illustration of gnarled, ancient trees with clock faces in their trunks, set within a dark, misty forest dotted with red roses. It evokes an eerie and mystical atmosphere.

THE STORYTELLER

Every story needs someone to tell it.

He has wandered among the stories of Haven Woods for longer than anyone remembers.

He collects them.

He tells them.

And he claims to know how they end.

But stories have a troublesome habit of changing in Haven Woods.

And no one seems quite comfortable when the Storyteller begins telling theirs.

He knows how every story ends.

Except his own.

THE WARDEN
Pumpkin Scarecrow in the Crimson Mist.png

Guardian of the Final Pages

The Warden has stood watch over Haven Woods longer than most can remember.

He rarely speaks.

He doesn't need to.

The crows speak for him.

They travel the Woods gathering secrets, memories, and pieces of stories their owners have forgotten.

The Warden protects something few Inhabitants remember exists:

their final pages.

He does not hide those pages from their rightful owners.

He protects them from everyone else.

Because your story belongs to you.

And no one else has the right to decide how it ends.

OLD HAVEN

The Story That Became
The Woods

Before the Inhabitants arrived, an unfinished story was lost deep within the Woods.

Something grew from it.

Old Haven.

His roots grew through the words. His trunk formed around the pages. And as more stories found their way into Haven Woods, he grew with them.

Old Haven does not simply remember the stories.

He is the stories.

Leaves fall. Bark peels. Branches break.
And sometimes what Old Haven sheds is not a leaf at all.

A word.
A name.
A memory.
A Lost Page.

Nothing written is ever truly lost.
THE SENTINEL

Guardian of the Unwritten Chapter

Older than most who walk the Woods, the Sentinel stands where stories become possibilities.

He does not guard what has already been written.

He guards what has not.

The Sentinel watches the Unwritten Chapter—the place where stories, possibilities and endings that were never meant to exist can still become real.

He sensed its opening. And he was there when someone opened it anyway.

He guards what has not been written.

THE KEEPER OF THE PATH

He does not choose where your Path leads.

The Keeper walks the paths of Haven Woods carrying a lantern whose light reveals roads others cannot see.

He does not change stories.

He does not protect endings.

He keeps travelers to the Path that belongs to them.

Sometimes that Path leads home.

Sometimes it leads deeper into Haven Woods.

And if you decide to step from it...

the Keeper will know.

The Storyteller tells you where you're going.

The Keeper makes sure you get there.

THE RECORDS ARE INCOMPLETE

We’ve been speaking with the inhabitants.

Unfortunately, their stories don't always agree.

Some remember things that never happened.
Some have forgotten things that did.
And a few refuse to speak to us at all.

The Lost Pages have helped.
But every answer seems to uncover another question.

More inhabitants will be added as their stories become... clearer.
